Tax Free Weekend for Hurricane Supplies!
As we gear up for hurricane season, Florida residents can save some money on sales tax this weekend for ALL supplies! The 2020 Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday was passed by the Florida Legislature and signed into law by Gov. DeSantis, and this is the weekend to benefit from it!
Florida's Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday runs from May 29th to June 4th 2020.
Here is a small list of items that qualify for the tax exemption this year:
$10 or less:
Reusable ice (reusable ice packs)
$20 or less:
Any portable, self-powered light source such as Candles, Flashlights, Lanterns etc..
$25 or less:
Any gas or diesel fuel container, including LP gas and kerosene containers
$30 or less:
- Batteries, including rechargeable batteries: AAA-cell, AA-cell, C-cell, D-cell, 6-volt, 9-volt
- Coolers and ice chests (food-storage; non-electrical)
$50 or less:
- Bungee cords
- Ground anchor systems
- Radios (powered by battery, solar, or handcrank): Two-way, Weather band
- Ratchet straps
- Tarps
- Tie-down kits
- Visqueen, plastic sheeting, plastic drop cloths, and other flexible waterproof sheeting
$750 or less:
- Portable generators
