About Hyde Park
In 1886, six years after H.B. Plant connected the east and west banks of the Hillsborough River with a bridge at Lafayette Street (now Kennedy Blvd), O.H. Platt purchased the 20 acres of land that were to become Tampa’s first official subdivision. During the land boom between 1910 and 1925, the area grew in both residents and prominence.

During the land boom between 1910 and 1925, the area grew in both residents and prominence and Hyde Park became a highly sought after South Tampa community bordering along prestigious Bayshore Boulevard. With large classic porches overlooking brick paved streets, this neighborhood contains beautiful and ornate historic homes and all the expected modern amenities coexisting side-by-side. The area now contains just over 2,500 residents and some 1,500 homes running the gambit from modest condos and townhomes to beautiful and ornate historic properties. This neighborhood offers a great location convenient to downtown, MacDill AFB, Tampa International Airport, I-275, shopping, dining and entertainment.

Primarily served by Plant High School, Wilson Middle School and Gorrie Elementary School.
